PSP Celebrates Third Birthday

The PSP turns three this week and the device has two reasons to be extra happy this year: God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The Nintendo DS has dominated the portable gaming market for quite some time now, but Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core give the PSP two must-have titles. As a result of the release of both games, the launch of the slimmer PSP-2000 and the popularity of other hot games like Patapon, PSP sales have skyrocketed, giving the console added momentum in 2008. According to Game Informer, PSP Sales are up 85% compared to April of last year. However, the PSP shouldn’t be celebrating like its 1999 just yet. The DS still reigns supreme in Japanese hardware sales.
